New Ulster Gov’t: No Recognition of Taliban

newulster

ROTHESAY — The New Ulster government has released a statement this afternoon saying that it will not recognize Taliban rule over Afghanistan in the wake of the government’s collapse there.

The Taliban’s takeover was hastened by the chaotic withdrawal this summer of the US and their allies’ forces.

In the statement, the NU government said the Taliban had a history of ‘inhumanity, brutality, and bloodshed’ and went on to say that New Ulster ‘does not and indeed will never’ give recognition to the Taliban, which was driven from power two decades ago before retaking power.

It closed with a message of solidarity for the Afghan people and called on governments of neighbouring countries and the governments of withdrawing forces to ‘assist and support’ the people.
