Election21: Polls Tied On Eve Of Election

newulster

ROTHESAY — The final opinion poll of the 2021 general election campaign shows the race is still a dead heat.

In Sunday’s poll, the Liberal Conservatives and Democratic Party are both at 37.5%. The independent candidates have slipped to 25%. In the previous poll published on Wednesday, all were at 33%.

However, it will be difficult for parties and their leaders to extrapolate final results from the poll as seat totals are not determined by popular vote.

New Ulster uses the ‘plurality-at-large’ voting method, whereby electors will choose the members of the House of Assembly from a single, nationwide constituency with the most voted for candidates being elected.

Election Day is Monday, August 30.
